Role Playing Toys

updated 8-14-1999

Children love to pretend and that is what is so great about Sailormoon. It gives little girls a chance to be someone else for a while. And what better way to pretend, than to use props. There were a lot of roleplaying items made for the Japanese, Asian, European, Italian and Canadian markets. Even the US made a couple of items. Below you will find a fraction of some of the items made from the show.

None of the items on this page are for sale.

Sailormoon, first season, the Crescent Moon Wand. This is the Bandai Asia version of the wand. Unlike the US release, this wand has three interchangeable crystals.

Sailormoon first season, Star Locket. This is the European release of the locket, it was also made for the Japanese and Asian markets as well. Wind the back and then flip up the top to hear Princess Serenity and her princes' song.

Sailormoon's transformation brooch from the first season. This is the Bandai America release.

Sailormoon first season transformation stick aka Luna Pen. This is the Bandai Asia release of the pen. It takes a battery and the crystal will light up. Additionally it is also a writing pen.

Sailormoon R, Crystal Power locket. This is the Bandai Asia release of the locket.

Made for the Japanese market in 1993, this is a clip on bow, with transformation brooch and pigtail toppers.

Sailormoon R, Space Time Key. This is the Bandai Japan release of the key (and a box) that ChibiUsa used to travel through time.

This is the Bandai Asia release of the Jupiter and Venus nail polish wands. Probably released in 1994 or 1995, the packaging is very similar to what the Japanese version were released in.

This is the European release of Mars and Mercury's Star Power sticks. Originally produced for the Japanese market in 1993, the set comes with two wands and two bottles of nail polish.

Made for the European market in either 1995 or 1996, the inner senshi communicator watches. These are made from the same molds as the Japanese watches. It is actually a strap and digital watch, with interchangable covers, depending on which Sailor Scout you want to be.

Sailormoon R wand. This is the Irwin release and is the same as the Japanese and Asia release wand. Plays all the right songs, lights up and is just what every Moon Princess needs to defeat the bad guys.

Neo-Queen Serenity Crystal Tiara. Neo-Queen Serenity's crown from Sailormoon R. It lights up and plays music. This is the Bandai Japan release. A slightly different version of the crown was released for the Italian market.

Sailormoon S, Cosmic Heart compact. Usagi's transformation brooch from the 1994 season, this is the Bandai Asia release.

Sailormoon S, Moon Spiral Heart Attack Rod. This is the Bandai Asia release. It plays three attack melodies and is the prettiest of the 5 wands that Moon uses.

Sailormoon S, Prism Heart Compact. This is the Bandai Asia release of the locket ChibiUsa uses to transform into Sailor Chibimoon.

Sailormoon S, Chibimoon's stick. This is the Bandai Japan release of the wand. One of the cutest attacks, the wand puts out little pink hearts that "spank" the villains.

This is the 1994 release of Sailormoon's bow and brooch for the Japanese market. It includes a plastic choker for moon as well. Like the R season set, the bow and brooch will clip on to the outfit the child is wearing.

The 1994 bow, earring and choker set for Sailor Mars, made for the Japanese market.

The 1994 bow, earring and choker set for Sailor Jupiter, made for the Japanese market. There were sets made for Mercury and Venus, but I have never been able to get them. To date, I have not seen these set produced for any of the other markets. I think this was a big mistake on the part of the toy companies, not every little girl wants to be Sailormoon.

Sailormoon S, Moon Crisis Grail is the item that Sailormoon uses to turn into Super Sailormoon. This is the Bandai Asia release. This is a very nice item and I would recommend it as something to add to any Sailormoon collection

Sailormoon SuperS, transformation brooch. Bandai Japan release, it is interactive with the line of role playing and doll items released during this season.

Sailormoon SuperS, Twinkle Bell. This is the item which Chibimoon uses to call the Pegasus, who then transform her and Sailormoon to their super status. This is the Bandai Japan release.

Sailormoon SuperS, Punishing gloves. Cute pair of gloves for Sailormoon with a kind of communicator for your wrist. These are Bandai Japan. Please note that my daughter was 6 1/2 when we got them and they would not fit her. I would guess they would fit a 4 or 5 year old.

Sailormoon SuperS, Stallion Reve. If you could only get one item on this page, I would recommend this one. Chibimoon was given this orb by Helios to communicate with him. It talks, plays music, is interactive to the wand and comes with a cute set of little figures (about 1") of the Scouts and Pegasus. Bandai Japan.

Sailormoon SuperS, crystal power transformation sticks for the inner senshi. The wand has interchangeable disc for Mercury, Mars, Jupiter and Venus. It is a Bandai Japan release and is part of the IRS innerlink system.

Sailor Stars, Eternal Moon compact. I am sure I have mentioned somewhere on this site that Sailor Stars was our least favorite of the seasons (closely tied with SuperS). A very disappointing piece. When you open the locket, it makes a clicking sound (all the other lockets play the transformation music). Bandai Japan release.

Sailor Stars, Eternal Tial. This is the first of Eternal Moon's wands for the Stars season. It does play music and is bigger than any of the other wands.

Sailor Stars, this is the second piece of the Eternal Tial. The handle is added to the first wand, so that you have a really long wand. It can also be put together with the little figurial wand include. A great way for parents to spend more money on Moon merchandise. Bandai Japan release.

Sailor Stars, the last piece to Eternal Moon's wand. The piece comes apart and fits onto the other wand pieces to form the ultimate wand (Starlight Honeymoon therapy kiss).
